Literacy Blog #5
My favorite scene in the book Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, is when Jacob is sitting at the dinner table and is meeting these children that Miss Peregrine is taking care of for the first time. They are all sitting around a large table getting ready to eat. Then all this food comes out of the kitchen like Otters wellington, salted kitten, shrew's liver, roasted goose, salmon, cod, mussels, roasted vegetables, breads, and so much more. When Jacob is at the table he recognizes kids that he has seen in his pictures his grandfather had. The conflict that occurs in this scene a changeover began to happen like it does every night to start another day.  A buzzer goes off then Jacob realizes that it is September third, 1940 and bombs are going to go off at any moment because of World War II. This is my favorite scene because this is the part in the book where everything is starting to fit together about what his father was saying. It is all making sense, like adding pieces to a puzzle.  It is also a very important part of the book because we learn a lot about the other characters and is very exciting. I really like this scene because the first time I bought this book I really wanted to know more about the picture and who the kids are. In this scene we get to know a lot about these characters and why they are peculiar.

  1. It sounds like a really good scene. I've seen your book and would really like to find out more about those weird children. It also sounds like a really confusing book so for that reason I might not like the book. I like that you mentioned what the conflict was in the scene because it described it better. What was it about the children that was peculiar?

  2. It's always nice meeting the characters. It helps you understand the story more. Some of the food sounds really gross, would you eat salted kitten?
